just when i thought i was getting bored with minecraft…

I haven't played minecraft for a while because I was kind of bored. I mean, I know there are new things to do since two patches ago, and I always think of things to build. But it gets kind of... lonely. I rarely ever play single player and when I do, it's usually to try a new AdventureCraft map (the Zelda one is amazing!), or heavily loaded with mods that add nifty things to the game.

I play multiplayer Minecraft because I love looking at other people's creations and "living" in them.

And so when the S.O. and his friends introduced me to the Reddit Public PVE server, I've gotten myself hooked again. There are actually towns and cities in this one, and you really have to scrimp and farm so you have stuff to eat and tools to adventure with. Plus, they've got an awesome railway system connecting the towns. I *love* well-made railway systems on minecraft.

The S.O. toured me around, and it reminded me so much of my time in Ultima Online. This is not a bad thing! I loved the player housing in UO, and all the little things that other players left for you to interact with (shop NPCs, interesting artifacts, etc).

And just look at some of the things people build around here! Here’s one of the towns. Christmas tree still up from the holiday festivities. I think this might be Seneca?

Here’s the Seneca Spleef Stadium. The Reddit PVE-ers take their spleef very seriously. :)

This one is Bluemanze’s cathedral from the outside:

And a pic of me and the inside of the cathedral. I’m sporting an Optimus Prime skin. This cathedral is huge!!

There’s a massive building project going on right now called the Uber Project, and here are the inner halls:

And inside one of the gigantic rooms is a wall full of minecraft faces:

I currently live in a small shack, but I think I might expand "my land" a little bit and recreate my UO house which was featured on the back of the official retail box of one of the UO expansions. :) I'm going to need to grow and farm a lot of dark wood trees though. >.< But having a goal is certainly one way to gain interest in a game again.

If you ever get tired of minecrafting on your own, or on a friends-only server, you really should try one of the big and populated ones. It certainly offers a new playing experience that might appeal to you very much!
